March28

(Helpful Hint: Hang in there through my mindless blathering 'cause there is a giveaway at the end of this post!)

Most all of my fabric has now been sorted, folded and stacked.  (The big section on the lower left still needs some work, but we'll get to that eventually.)  At least you can see everything. and though it may not be so spectacular by traditional crafty-blog standards, when I look at this shelf I'm like, "Holy crap, that's a lot of fabric!"  Where did it all come from?  80% thrusting & yard sales, 10% hand-me-downs, 10% Fabric store coupon day.  I don't buy expensive fabric, I just can't.  My sensibilities will not let me, no matter how pretty the pattern.  I see a $$-a-yard price tag and I just laugh,' I don't THINK so.'  I'm not putting down the folks who do splurge on the good stuff, not at all.  You go ahead with your bad-self.  It's  just not my thing.

Here is breakdown of my STASH:

The above photo collection was inspired by this lovely blog post about an equally yummy yarn stash.

Mostly I just want to get some sewing projects going so I can make room for more fabric, therefore continuing the cycle and feeding my addiction.   Know something else that can help?  A GIVEAWAY!  Oh yeah!  What a perfect way to get some space on the shelves, allow innocent blog readers to be my enablers, and make me feel like a good, charitable person all at the same time.  Genius.   I actually love doing blog-giveaways.  It is also pretty awesome that I participated in a giveaway on the Marmee Craft Blog recently and was a chosen WINNER!  Wow, I don't think I'd ever won anything online before, and I was just tickled pink.  Her blog and shop are one of my faves, and you really should drop in if you have the chance.

OK, down to business.  Anyone want of piece of my stash?  Just leave a comment in this post, preferably picking a style or two of fabric that are your ultimate favorites.  (And be sure to leave an email Addy or link so I can contact you if you win!)  I'll leave the comments open and choose three, random winners next Monday.  Each chosen one will receive all the lovely fabric bits that I can shove into a large bubble mailer.  Sound fun?  Then please play along! And, as always, thank you all for reading and participating on my blog.  It ain't much, but I'm kinda fond of it.

(Psst.  Comments are closed now, but oh my goodness!  What a ton of responses, I'm speechless!  Look out for the drawing of the names later this evening, when I'm back from the Post Office , and supper is over.  You know how it is.)

I'm all about courduroy and fleece!!!

did I win???

ooh, oh!! how exciting! and good for you being such a good organizer! i would looove to help you continue your fabric addiction. ;-) I would love some goodies from the vintage sheets and florals sections! :-)

i'm working on a giveaway also! how fun! i am drooling, drooling, drooling over the patterns you have in your vintage sheets pile...so springy and summery and smile inducing!

you've got good thrifting kharma!

I am so glad to read another blog with a blogger who doesn't buy gobs of online/fabric store fabric. So little of my stash comes from those places, it is just too darn expensive!

I am crazy for dots and flowers.

Oh your stash looks so beautiful. Mine is all tucked away in a dresser and just looks depressing. There is just something about gazing at the stacks as a whole...not folded in a drawer somewhere!

I'm now in the mood to make our little guy some summer pants so the stripes or knits would be my pick...if I could possibly be so lucky.

I understand how you get your fabric - I prefer to get mine from thrift stores and garage sales, and ... well who can turn down a give away?

I love the cottons, and florals, and sheets - stuff I can use in patchwork and making dolls clothes of all sizes... Just love your top right corner pile - as well as the sheets.

I love all your vintage stuff! Vintage sheets, florals, towels! I'm doing the same thing right now. When people come over and say, "wow, that's a lot of fabric," I don't feel guilty because most of it was thrifted!

haha i'm all over this giveaway. i'm sure i don't have to tell you that i love the vintage florals and sheets!

and to follow-up, haha no, lately having everyone at home has NOT been fun! my work space has been the dining room and imagine my horror when i found out the wednesday before easter that, 1. easter was that weekend, and 2. we were having a TON of company! (we usually don't have company for easter as everyone lives far). so yeah haha. it has it's highs and lows, naturally ;)

Lovely aqua gingham, sunflower yellow fleece and blue & green checked wool... I'm going weak at the knees!!

I love photos of people's stashes. It reminds me that I'm not alone in my insanity of fabric-love.

Woohoo! What a great collection. I am totally on the same wave-length when it comes to expensive fabric.
I love the Vintage Sheets and Vintage Florals!

Amanda~

okay~ you know... I'm loving those vintage sheets girl!! If you can part with them, I would give them a very loving and caring home, I will look at them everyday with adoration and aspiration. Oh, I love the polka dots and gingham too!!

Hugs!

Oh what a lovely stash! I had a hard time picking but I think my favourite is the doilies and such.

Pick a few?!??! Cant I just say as a whole I am in love with your stash! Now on a selfish note if I was to win I would love a few of the plain cottons (love the colors you have!) some vinatge florals and vintage sheets.

BTW thank you for sharing your break down of how you got your fabric. I have been buying way too much high priced fabric, it is good to know that great fabric is to be had if you just look (and for resonable prices!)

Your organized stash looks wonderful! Wow, what a huge job (there's LOTS of fabric!!)
My favorite has to be your vintage florals.
Have a great weekend!

That stash is beautiful...I love those vintage sheets - I can't find them anywhere here! And those florals are great too! I need to do more thrift store browsing I think!

I'm all about the polka dots and the vintage sheets! Pretty sweet stash you have there. Thanks for the contest opp! :) xo

I love reading your blog, I just wanted to say. I'm hoping to organize my fabric soon with the help of an Ikea shelf. I'm tired of dragging the cardboard boxes out of the closet, and always putting them back messier! I love gingham, dots, and florals, if you can bear to part with any of those lovely pieces of fabric.

Wow, that is some stash! I love just about everything from bold patterns to light lovely calicos...I love surprises best of all so if (fingers crossed) I were to win that would be the best part! Thanks for sharing and I think I'll follow your example and pay it forward!

The organized stash is so pretty! I've been (trying) to organize myself, too. Must be the sunny weather. Since I'm starting my first sewing class next week, I'd definitely love some stash. A vintage floral looks perfect for something for my girls. Or maybe some gingham. I'm a sucker for gingham. :)

Ohhh, sign me up please! I really like the green & white floral sheet, but I am not going to be picky!

I love seeing other people's stashes - it's nice to know I'm not alone!

I'm all about the vintage floral and vintage sheets.

sounds really fun. I love the solid cottons or gingham and such.

Always nice to look at others peoples stash! I'm a polka dot girl myself ...

look at all the great stash you have! i love the vintage sheets & towels. of course, the gingham is adorable too!

i absolutely love the vintage florals and the sheeting....dots and gingham are equally lovely. Your stash looks so pretty folded so nicely in your cabinet.
