What a crazy morning! Oh my goodness! When my friend Amber called me last week, all she said was, "So, do you wanna be on TV?" I didn't know how to respond, really (beside my initial stomach twirls and woozy knees.) Amber had been contacted by Vanessa Coria of WVEC 13 News to help supplement a story on buying for the Holidays on a budget. She said that so many people recommended making gifts, instead of buying them, so she searched for Handmade in Norfolk, and stumbled across our Norfolk Craft Mafia Website. We were so very excited for the opportunity to promote the Mafia and our first show coming up on November 10th! We gathered handmade goodies from our stash and from other mafia members to feature on the segment, and we also shared a quick marble magnet/book marker tutorial for a super-easy and inexpensive little gift.
All the filming was done in my house, by the way! Very cool, and somewhat stressful if you tend to keep a messy, unorganized house like me. So, don't be fooled by these shiny pictures; all the hot wheels, laundry and craft projects were shoved upstairs!
Amber was brave enough to tackle the one-on-one interview, for which I am very grateful. I am getting such horrible stage fright in my old age, and I have no idea why. I used to be into drama, and I loved giving oral reports in high school. It makes no sense at all, I'm much more sure of myself now that I was back then?! Go figure.
I did talk on camera about the handmade goodies, and I did most of the tutorial. I'm not sure how much I'll be in the clip....but you'll definitely see my hands! Besides Amber and myself, we had pillows and plushies by Cassie, altered art by Jeannine, accessories by Charmaine, pottery by Ashley and knitwear by Tasha.
It was an awful lot of work for what will be a 1 minute & 45 second news clip! I was really fascinated with the process though, very intriguing. And Vanessa had quite a snazzy pedicure, but I don't have pictures of that. All in all......just your typical Wednesday, right? :) If you want to catch the segment (so you can make fun of us later) if will be airing next Friday the 20th in the early morning. I think they will also have a link on the website too though, and I will be sure to post it on my blog. (Mr. Camera Man, you better make us look good!)
Now I'm just relieved that it's over, and I'm looking forward to some vegging tonight with the New Top Model (makeover episode, yee haw!) and Gossip Girl. Plus the bottom half of the house is clean, so that's a bonus. I may even make pink popcorn too. Have I shared that recipe yet? I don't think so. You all are not quite ready for it yet. As my mother always says. "There shall be no pink popcorn before it is time."
*Also, check back tomorrow for a new "Amazingly Wonderful Old Movie" blog post. My sister and I discovered and absolute gem of an oldie yesterday, and it's so good I want to make sure everyone watches it immediately.

I NEED POSTURE LESSONS!!!

Yay! I'm so glad they filmed in your house and didn't stage it in the studio. That's such a nice touch.

That is so fantastic! I can't wait to see the clip. I can't even imagine having them in your house *and* having to be filmed!
I totally understand about getting shy-er as I age. In high school I was very outgoing, did drama for years & never got stage fright. Can't say I loved oral reports though!
But then in college, my friends were so laid back. I went from 4 years with them to working at home alone (with a pretty introverted husband), so now I am so shy! If you are working at home, that can definitely do it ;)
