Amazing Old Movie Alert!
My sister and I watched this a few days ago and it was just so, so wonderful! Highly recommended. Sweet and funny and sad...everything a an old fashioned movie should be. It was also amusing to see a young Angela Lansbury play a very different roll than she is usually cast in (think low-cut, sequined party dresses.) She is one of those peculiar people that always looks exactly the same to me, no mater what decade it is, which could be a compliment or an insult depending on which way you look at it. She's either aged really well or, has always looked kinda old. My favorite movie of hers will always be Bedknobs and Broomsticks. LOVE that movie. I can't get Max to watch it yet, though. He loses interest right around the second verse of Portabello Road.
So, please watch this movie, The World of Henry Orient. If you have Netflix, you can watch it for free, instantly on your computer! (That's what we did!)
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Awesome. I added it to my queue. I love Paula Prentiss!

Hi Amanda!
My sister Jayne Loves Bedknobs and Broomsticks also! What do you think of the original Freaky Friday? (jody Foster) I think it is very vunny! But my all time fav for laghter is It's A Mad, Mad World. But then again a somewhat newbie would be High Heels And Low Liives. With Minnie Driver. I maybe the only one...at least in this house.
With Kindness,
Mary
P.s. I love meeting fans of older movies! Thank you so for the tips!

Jimmy LOVES Bedknobs & Broomsticks, I've never seen it! Have you seen the old movie "The Women"? It's sooooo good, we should rent it and have a girly night, it's one of my favorite movies. The Naro has it I think.

I loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks as a kid too! My sisters and I must have watched it a couple dozen times. I remember watching another Peter Sellers movie called "What's New Pussycat?" but didn't get to see the end. It was pretty hilarious, though :)

I always like Jessica Lansbury as Will Varner's mistress (and town whore?) in The Long, Hot Summer, which is a favorite (especially in the summer months). I simply adore Newman and Woodward, and this is the movie in which they hooked up in real life, so the sexual chemistry between them is hot! I also like Lansbury, AKA goody-two-shoes Jessica Fletcher, as the loose woman of the town, especially how she simpers and purrs at Will Varner, and get what she wants!

I love Peter Sellers. It is so refreshing to watch an old movie.

I loved that movie, The World of Henry Orient, so much, because my school is the girls' school pictured in the beginning of the movie, and we used to wear uniforms similar to the ones the girls are wearing in the movie! I wanted my children to be fascinated by it as well, but it didn't hold very much interest for them, unfortunately.
