Studio Remix
I hate to make excuses, BUT I have been a bit to busy to blog. I'm really burning the midnight oil in preparation for the craft shows, but I will soon have time to photograph and write about all of the cute stuff I (with help) have made. My mom came over yesterday and unexpectedly helped with some hand embroidery details on Christmas stockings. She was such a huge help, and her work was much cuter than mine...no fair! Seriously, I love my mom, she's too cool. Plus, I get lots of expert advice from her previous crafting days, though I think I may be luring her back into it...he he he.
So, I'm back to work again, but I will leave you with a smattering of photos. Mostly of the new new studio. My hubby and I split the space down the middle; crafty, pink, cuteness on one side....hip-hop style, tons of records and DJ equipment on the other. Very funny, really. Last night we were both working on stuff quietly together when he said, "This is the best thing we've ever done." I didn't know what exactly he was referring to (we just went to Subway, but the subs weren't THAT good...) Then he explained: sharing a space, creating together. And, yeah, it is the best.
The cards at the top of the bulletin board are from my first trade (!) with a great gal, Annette. She commented on my snowy sock bunnies, and I traded one for some of her lovely handmade cards. It was just too fun, and I love everything she sent me! This crafty -blogging - flickr community is just so overwhelming. I'm loving every minute of it.

Oh, Amanda, how cool that you are sharing a space with your husband! Iwould love to do that, but we don't have a space large enough for all my collections and his mess! ;0)
Good luck finishing things up for your craft shows. When are they?

I love the thought of a half crafty pink and half hip-hop studio. That's awesome! It's nice that you're getting your mom back into crafting, too. It sounds like she's a great resource. I can't wait to see what you've been working on! Good luck with everything!

Thank you so much for the nice comments! Cerri, my first show is tomorrow (Saturday 2nd) and then another the next weekend (8th and 9th). These are small-ish shows (a little over 75 vendors apiece) just to get my feet wet. Did I mention I've NEVER done this before?! I'm so excited!
Also, I wish I could say that Mike (my husband) and I are sharing a studio space out of mutual love and the desire to create side-by-side, BUT....it's mostly out of necessity. Our house is pretty small and there just isn't room for two studios. As it is, we moved our bedroom to the tiniest room in the house just so we could have a big "shared" work space. The actual move was a sort of tough (moving over 3000 record albums.....not fun.) But so far, all is working out well, thank God for headphones!....although his music/turntable/stuff is quite interesting, it's not really my cup of tea.

I want the picture of the guy with the big eye to hang next to my autographed picture of Chris Isaak.
Amanda, can you arrange a price with your husband for me???
